Sciatica ( Grudhrasi)
Sciatica (Grudhrasi)
- Treatment Protocol
Sciatica, known as Grudhrasi in Ayurveda, often
presents with back pain radiating to one leg. Patients commonly report symptoms
such as stiffness, heaviness, numbness, burning, or tingling sensations in the
affected leg.
During the initial consultation, we conduct a
thorough history-taking and clinical examination to assess the condition. While
MRI or X-ray reports can be helpful, they are not essential, as our experienced
consultants use specialized Ayurvedic diagnostic methods, guided by authentic
principles and long-standing clinical expertise.
Our treatments are grounded in traditional
Ayurvedic practices and hospital-based evidence. The therapeutic approach
includes:
External Treatment:
We begin by applying
a specially formulated medicated herbal paste with anti-inflammatory and
pain-relieving properties, designed to dissolve calcification and ease
discomfort. This is done following an herbal oil massage to the lower
back and legs.
Fomentation is then
administered using herbal bolus therapy or a herbal steam bath, which
helps alleviate stiffness and enhances circulation.
2.Panchakarma Therapy:
Based on the
patient’s condition, Vasti (medicated enema) is recommended, often
following mild purgation to cleanse the body.
Kati Vasti is also
administered, where medicated oil is kept in a circular formation made
with black gram flour on the lower back for 40-60 minutes to relieve pain
and inflammation.
Throughout the
treatment, we prescribe authentic Ayurvedic internal medications, which
are also available for purchase online.
3.Personalized Treatment:
The treatment plan is
tailored to the severity of the condition, ensuring the most effective
approach for each individual.
Patients generally experience significant relief
after 2 to 3 weeks of continuous treatment.
Neurological Disorders
We offer specialized Ayurvedic treatments for a wide range of neurological disorders, including sudden-onset conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, and meningitis, as well as progressive conditions like Parkinson’s disease, dementia, motor neuron disease, and ataxia.
Our treatments are designed to promote significant progress in the patient recovery while preventing further deterioration of health and disability.
Key Treatments
1.Brain-Soothing Therapies:
- Full Body Massage with Herbal Oils: A therapeutic massage using
specially selected herbal oils helps improve circulation, relieve muscle
tension, and soothe the nervous system. - Fomentation with Medicated Bolus: Following the massage, the
application of heated medicated boluses further relaxes the body,
enhances the absorption of the herbal oils, and alleviates pain and
stiffness. - Shiro Pichu: In this treatment, a cotton or gauze pad soaked in warm
herbal oil is placed on the head for 30 minutes to 1 hour. This deeply
nourishes and calms the brain, helping to balance mental and emotional
functions. - Shiro Lepa: A specially formulated herbal paste is applied to the head
to cool and soothe the mind, reduce stress, and promote mental clarity
2.Internal Medications: Ayurvedic herbal formulations are administered to
enhance immunity, support neurological function, and reduce inflammation,
offering protection against the progression of disorders.
3.Vasti (Herbal Enema):Vasti is a core component of Panchakarma treatment,
and it is especially effective for neurological conditions. The herbal enema
cleanses toxins and rejuvenates the nervous system, leading to improved motorand cognitive function.
4.Special Soups and Dietary Supplements:We prescribe special soups that are
mentioned in authentic Ayurvedic texts, which act as food supplements. These
soups are beneficial for weak or elderly patients, helping them regain strength
and vitality while supporting the healing process.
Long-Term Care:
These treatments are designed to be administered intermittently for optimal results.
Regular therapy helps maintain progress, prevent relapses, and improve the patient’s
quality of life.
By following these Ayurvedic principles, patients can experience improved health
outcomes, slowed progression of disease, and enhanced overall well-being.
Migraine
Migraine is a neurological disorder that manifests as moderate to severe headaches,
typically affecting one side of the head. Below are the key characteristics of migraine:
Pain: Throbbing or pulsing pain that may feel dull at times.
Duration: Migraine attacks can last from 4 to 72 hours.
Other Symptoms: Often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and heightened
sensitivity to light, sound, and odors.
Triggers: Common triggers include hormonal changes, medications,
alcohol, caffeine, and stress.
Frequency: While some individuals experience migraines frequently, others
only have occasional episodes.
Abdominal Migraine: This form of migraine causes at least 5 episodes of
abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting within a month. Abdominal pain
episodes can last between 2 to 72 hours, and they occur without an underlying
gastrointestinal condition.
Impact: Migraines can significantly affect daily activities and decrease overall
quality of life.
Advanced Treatment: Leech Therapy (Panchakarma)
With over 8 years of clinical experience and research, I have developed an advanced and rapid treatment for migraine relief through Leech Therapy (Panchakarma). This therapy offers significant benefits in a short period, with some young adults experiencing relief after just 1–2 sessions within 10 days.
The Role of Leech Therapy in Migraine Treatment
Leech Therapy for Toxin Removal: Migraines are often triggered by the accumulation of toxins at specific trigger points, leading to blocked channels and hypoxic conditions (lack of oxygen) in the head. Leech therapy helps remove these toxins while releasing beneficial substances, including:
Serotonin: Improves mood and pain management,Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory substances
Improved Blood Circulation: By improving blood circulation in the head, leech therapy can significantly relieve migraine symptoms. Most patients find relief from migraine symptoms after 1 to 2 sessions.
Complications in Older Patients (Aged 40–50+) As patients age, migraines can lead to more complex neurological conditions, such as:
Numbness in the head or body, Vertigo, Visual auras (e.g., seeing zigzag lines, sparkling lights), Blurred vision, Whole-body pain, Memory impairment, Personality disorders, Stroke, Persistent aura without infarction: Aura symptoms without any sign of stroke, Work disability and loss of productivity, Migralepsy: A migraine aura triggered seizure, where an epileptic seizure occurs during or within 1 hour of a migraine with aura.
These older patients require a combined approach, addressing both migraine treatment and neurological complications after leech therapy. While many people over 60 experience a decrease in severe migraines, they often develop these complications, necessitating additional care.
Benefits of This Approach
Fast Relief: Patients can experience significant improvement in a short time without relying on long-term medications.
Improved Quality of Life: Combining migraine treatment with therapy for neurological disorders can drastically enhance the quality of life for older patients, reducing complications and improving overall well-being.
Leech Therapy offers a unique, fast-acting solution for migraines, benefiting both young patients and those with complex neurological conditions. By improving circulation and removing toxins, this therapy not only relieves migraines but also addresses complications, providing long-lasting results without the need for prolonged medication
